Itinerary
Arrival in Tbilisi
Welcome to Georgia! You’ll be met at Tbilisi Airport and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight: Tbilisi
On this day, we will go on Tbilisi City Tour, which takes us on a captivating journey through the heart of Georgia’s vibrant capital. As we set off, we’ll visit the iconic Narikala Fortress, offering breathtaking views of Tbilisi’s landscape. We will pass by the renowned sulphur baths at Abanotubani, the very source of Tbilisi’s founding and a testament to its cultural heritage.
The tour lets us explore the enchanting Old Town, a maze of cobblestone streets filled with charming houses and hidden courtyards, where stories of centuries past come to life.
Then, we will also have the opportunity to visit the Georgian National Museum. We will explore the impressive exhibits showcasing artefacts that date back thousands of years. The museum provides a captivating glimpse into the fascinating tapestry of Georgian civilization.
Optional: Sulphur Bath Experience (€50 per person)
Overnight: Tbilisi
In the morning, we will explore a historically important sight located just a short drive from Tbilisi. Mtskheta offers a glimpse into the country’s glorious past. Our journey will lead us to the stunning Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a masterpiece of medieval architecture and a revered religious symbol, where, according to a legend, Christ’s robe is buried.
Then, we will venture to the enchanting town of Borjomi, renowned for its natural wonders and therapeutic mineral springs. We will indulge in the rejuvenating experience of the famous Borjomi Park, surrounded by lush greenery and pristine landscapes. A visit to the iconic Borjomi Central Park will lead us to the source of the town’s acclaimed mineral water, where we can savour the refreshing taste and discover the secrets of its healing properties.
Afterwards, we will discover a gorgeous 3.1 km loop trail in Borjomi & Kharagauli National park. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 20 min to complete.

Overnight: Borjomi
In the morning, we will go on Saro-Nijgori hike trail. The hike leads to the upper fort of Saro and then towards the village of Nijgori. This is a historical trail, which for centuries was used by the local people of Saro-Khizabavara to harvest their orchards and vineyards planted along the Mtkvari Valley. The then runs downhill, where suddenly the full view of the terraced village of Old Nijgori comes into sight. This place is called “Marnebi” by the locals, which means cellars.
Our tour then takes an extraordinary turn as we journey to the ancient cave city of Vardzia. Carved into the rugged cliffs of the Erusheti Mountain, Vardzia is a true marvel of history and architecture. As we explore its intricate network of caves, tunnels, and rock-hewn churches, we’ll be transported back in time to the Golden Age of Georgia. We’ll admire the exquisite frescoes that adorn the cave walls and learn about the monastic life that once thrived within these rocky chambers.

Overnight: Borjomi
In the morning, we will embark on a journey to the hidden jewels of western Georgia. This day will offer the opportunity to explore these sights on foot, making it a mesmerizing walking expedition.
Having been on a walking tour of the city, we will set out on an enthralling expedition to Martvili Canyon, where we will navigate its wonders by boats, revealing nature’s sculpted rock formations and pristine emerald waters.
Next, we will travel to Okatse Canyon, where breathtaking views await. We will traverse along the suspension bridge that spans this magnificent gorge, offering exhilarating perspectives of nature’s grandeur.
We return to the spa resort Tskaltubo.
Our day ends in Kutaisi – one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe.
Overnight: Kutaisi
Our journey to the Svaneti region leads us to the remarkable Enguri Dam, from where the majestic Greater Caucasus appears before us. Driving through the scenic mountains, we make several stops to fully immerse ourselves in their splendour.
We will then reach the town of Mestia located in the Upper Svaneti region. Preserved by its geographical isolation, this landscape is an outstanding example of mountain scenery with its medieval villages and tower houses dating back to the 9th century. Svan people, who are known for their distinctive language and culture, built these towers to defend themselves against invading armies. The whole region is now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will go on a trekking adventure just outside of Mestia. We will start by walking through a young pine forest. Moving ahead, the trail winds through a stony gorge, once carved by the ancient glacier. Our hike culminates before reaching the impressive Chalaadi glacier, allowing us to admire its grandeur from a distance, a captivating sight to behold.

Overnight: Mestia
Spending one night in Upper Svaneti is far from being sufficient. That’s why we will not be leaving the region just yet.
We will venture to Ushguli, a community of five villages. It is considered to be the highest permanently inhabited settlements in Europe, with its altitude reaching 2200 meters above sea level. Compared to somewhat more developed town of Mestia, Ushguli is even harder to access, which makes it so that it has preserved many of the village’s medieval characteristics, including more than 200 of the most well-preserved medieval Svan towers. Incredibly, many of them are still occupied by families today.
From Ushguli, we will hike to the Shkhara glacier and back. The experience of exploring the stunning surroundings is guaranteed to stay with you for a lifetime.
Hike: 16 km | 5 hrs | Easy
Overnight: Mestia
We start the day by trekking to the lakes of Koruldi. Nestled in Upper Svaneti, these lakes sit majestically at an impressive altitude of 2850 meters above sea level. The lakes are surrounded by the Caucasus glaciers and peaks. The panoramic view includes the sights of Shkhara, Tetnuldi, Ushba, Laila and more. Located merely 10 km away from Mestia, the journey to these lakes is well worth the effort, as they beautifully mirror the surrounding mountains. Accessing the Koruldi Lakes involves a rewarding climb on foot.

Overnight: Mestia
In the morning, we leave Mestia and embark on a drive to Kutaisi.
Before reaching the final destination of the day, we will then discover the wonder of Prometheus Cave. This mesmerizing natural monument will let us sail through its illuminated passages on boats, marvelling at stalactites, stalagmites, and the underground waterfalls that will leave us in awe.
Once we get to the enchanting city of Kutaisi, we will wander through its lively streets, captivated by the warm hospitality of its people. A city tour of Kutaisi will reveal its rich heritage as it will take us to see sites like the Colchis Fountain and the White Bridge. With its welcoming spirit and fascinating landmarks, Kutaisi promises an authentic Georgian experience that will leave a lasting impression.
Overnight: Kutaisi
Having left Kutaisi in the morning, we drive to the fascinating Kazbegi region.
On our way, we will make a stop in Chardakhi, near Mtskheta. Here, the warm and welcoming Nebi Winery await us. We will have the opportunity to savour exquisite wine made by our host family have a master class on making a celebrated traditional Georgian dish – khachapuri – cheese-filled bread.
Once we reach Stepantsminda, Kazbegi, we will spend the rest of the day exploring this beautiful remote area, acquiring an experience one doesn’t easily forget.
Overnight: Kazbegi
After breakfast, we will drive to the entrance of Truso Valley – a spectacular, mystical sight, and then, we hike along the valley, where we find the source of the Tergi River famous for its mineral water springs, as well as mesmerizing white and yellow travertines. Our route then takes us to Kasari Canyon and the abandoned village of Ketrisi. Here, we discover what remains from the local medieval architecture, an example being the Zakagori Fortress.
We will stop by the breathtaking Truso Lake as the journey continues deeper into the mountains. At the end of our hike, we return to the entrance of the valley and are driven back to Stepantsminda.

Overnight: Kazbegi
In the morning, we start trekking from the village Sno with amazing valleys, roaring rivers and alpine meadows towards Juta. The village Juta is the highest settlement point in Europe – 2 200 meters above sea level. Here is where we come across the majestic Chaukhi Mountains that are located on the main ridge of Caucasus, 3 688 meters above sea level. We can relax in Juta, have lunch and continue trekking to the Chaukhi Lake.
We drive back from the village Sno to Stepantsminda.
Hike: 26 km | 10 hrs | Moderate
Overnight: Kazbegi
We start the day off by hiking through the forest to the Gergeti Trinity Church in Stepantsminda. Perched dramatically on a hilltop against the majestic Mount Kazbegi backdrop, we’ll explore this 14th century marvel.
Next, we will be hosted at Ketino’s Guesthouse, where Ketino herself will give us a master class on making Georgian traditional dumplings – khinkali.
We will spend the rest of the day enjoying the serenity of the surroundings before embarking on our way back to the capital – Tbilisi.
